From the opening tip, Kirtland found itself battling not only the opposing defense but also its own inconsistency, finishing the game shooting just 31% from the field. The offensive struggles were compounded by 24 turnovers, many of which led to easy transition opportunities for GRCC.
Despite the tough outing, the Lady Firebirds continued to compete, showing flashes of strong defensive stretches and hustle plays. Kingsley Backstrom (Oscoda) provided a bright spot for Kirtland, leading the team with 10 points and offering steady effort on both ends of the floor.
The Lady Firebirds return to the court on Wednesday, December 3, against Community Christian (Mich.). For more information on Kirtland Firebird athletics, please visit www.Kirtlandfirebirds.com
