Firebirds Bowling Teams Shine in Season Opener
The Kirtland Community College Firebirds bowling teams wasted no time making their presence felt as they kicked off the new season. With a mix of fresh talent and only four returning bowlers, both squads showcased determination and skill in their opening match.
The Kirtland Community College Firebirds bowling teams started their season strong with a promising display of talent and resilience. With only four returning bowlers across both teams, the Firebirds showcased their new talent's depth and ability to rise to the challenge in their season opener.
The women's team, led by standout bowler Camille Pennell, delivered a solid performance, with Pennell rolling a total series of 523 pins. Her consistency and leadership helped the Firebirds clinch a commendable fourth-place finish in a competitive field.
On the men's side, the Firebirds showed grit and determination. After falling behind by 86 pins in the first half of the contest, the team rallied in the second half, finding their rhythm and climbing into third place. Their ability to adapt under pressure highlighted the potential of this season's roster.
Coach Scott Rice reflected on the opening performance: "I'm proud of how both teams performed. With so much new talent this year, it's exciting to see them coming together so quickly. This is just the beginning, and we're looking forward to building on this foundation."
The Firebirds are now preparing for their next challenge on January 10 in Muskegon, where they will participate in a crossover event against all MCCAA schools.
