Bio
Coach Collins joined Kirtland Community College on July 1, 2025, marking his first season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the Firebirds. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Coach Collins is a proud graduate of Carman-Ainsworth High School. He went on to attend Baker College of Flint, where he studied Business Administration and began his basketball coaching career at Flint Southwestern Academy. During his tenure at Southwestern, he had the privilege of coaching current Charlotte Hornets NBA player Miles Bridges.
After a decade of coaching at the high school and middle school levels, Coach Collins earned his first collegiate opportunity as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Miami under legendary head coach Jim Larrañaga. He later completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration and Education from the University of Miami. Following his time in Miami, Collins became the Head Men’s Basketball Coach (Club) at the University of Michigan–Flint, where he spent two successful seasons before moving to Texas to serve as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Frank Phillips College (NJCAA Division I).
After one season at Frank Phillips, Collins reached a major career milestone, becoming the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Minnesota North College–Rainy River. During his tenure, he guided the Voyagers to a 17–10 overall record and a 10–2 conference record, earning the #2 seed in the Region XIII Tournament. His leadership also helped three freshmen earn First-Team All-MCAC Region XIII honors, while two others were named to the First-Team All-Defensive Team, reflecting his dedication to player development and team excellence.
Off the court, Coach Collins enjoys working out, playing NBA 2K with friends, and spending quality time with his son, Ezion.
